Guest columnist.Wokism ideology holds that society is structured around power relations where certain groups (men, white people, heterosexuals, etc.) oppress others (racial minorities, women, the LGBTQ+ community). From this perspective, it assumes that the right thing to do, "the awakening," is to fight to end this system. The pillars of our civilization, for example, the family, marriage, and capitalism, are seen as mechanisms of oppression. It is not merely a matter of influencing legislative systems, but of ending our way of life.
But here lies their biggest contradiction, since while they claim to end capitalism, much of Wokism is financed by large corporations. Let's look at some examples:
On March 31, 1929, Easter Sunday, groups of young women marched through the streets of New York, smoking. Ruth Hale, the event's organizer, presented it as an iconic symbol of women's freedom and the feminist movement. However, those behind it were the publicist Edward Bernays (Freud's nephew) and the executives of Lucky Strike (all men). So, while women were being encouraged to damage their lungs with smoke, the tobacco company executives were rubbing their hands together in anticipation of future profits.
This shows us that, for decades, many feminist slogans have been mere marketing strategies. In fact, the neologism "femvertising" has already been coined in English to refer to the fusion of feminism and advertising, given the flood of commercials that sell their products using feminist ideology.
Regarding the LGBT+ movement, the irony is immense, since, after being massacred by communist dictatorships, it ended up becoming the revolutionary fetish of the left. In his book, *And God Entered Havana*, Manuel Vásquez Montalbán explains that, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Cuban authorities and Fidel Castro himself decided to implement CENESEX, a kind of ministry tasked with showing the world that Cuba was a champion of human rights and sexual diversity. In fact, in 2019, the Castro regime legalized same-sex marriage and gender reassignment.
But was this a change that sought to guarantee the freedoms and rights of Cubans?
No. The truth is that, since the 1990s, Castro and his accomplices were after something else: pink money. According to Bloomberg, if Cuba were a country, the LGBT community would have the fourth largest GDP in the world. So, it wasn't a reduction in repression, but simply another way for the longest-running dictatorship in the Americas to exploit the Cuban population. In the words of Carlos Alberto Montaner: "In Cuba, it's easier to change your sex than to leave the Communist Party."
The situation with veganism isn't much different, as Bill Gates has admitted on several occasions to being the major funder of the vegan movement; for example, in an interview with www.bbc.com he said: "I've donated more than US$100 billion, but I still have more to give." To put that in perspective, that amount of money is equivalent to the entire economy of Hungary.
Wokism is a product of academia. Universities, influenced by a whole philosophical current that stems from the French May of '68 and is related to the penetration of, for example, Derrida's theories. However, its danger doesn't lie there, since the university system has always been the center for the production and distribution of idiotic ideas, but rather in the fact that it enjoys millions of dollars to impose its agenda on culture, the economy, and politics. While it is certainly in crisis, it's not wise to let our guard down, because, as François Desnoyer would say: "There are dead people who, just in case, it's best to kill them."
