Sick with Arrogance
by Hugo Antonio Achá
One reads El Pais or The Economist, or Veja or any print media in the West. One watches the editorials of CNN, Globo or Univision and what happens to the global left becomes clear.
They have no understanding of what is happening. They wish to make us believe that the election of Trump, Macri or Bolsonaro constitute the Apocalypse for liberties and freedom, that human rights are under threat and that the environment is in danger.
They are sick, with arrogance and blindness. Do you want to talk about the loss of liberty and democracy? Do you want to talk about human rights violators and predators of the environment? Look at yourself in the mirror. You have created, bred and encouraged some of the most abject, corrupt and dictatorial regimes in recent history.
Examples? The Venezuela of Chavez, which condemned to hunger people that inhabit the world’s richest land in oil, Evo’s Bolivia which shamelessly traffics cocaine while providing financial support to some of the most radical and dangerous movements on the globe, Ortega’s Nicaragua which kills shamelessly and represses without dissimulating, all with a shocking record of deaths as well as of tortured and exiled citizens unparalleled since the dark years of the military dictatorships.
But that’s not the worst part, you have served as accomplices to enable the Cuba of the Castros, both living and dead, to remain the longest dictatorship in the history of humanity, to the point of enabling them to take pride in receiving over half their money from the exploitation, enslavement and trafficking of its own citizens.
You cry as widows for Lula without taking one moment to think about what terms like Odebrecht or “Lava Jato” imply; ransacking and theft in such a scale, that the billions stolen by the PT mob pile up beyond comprehension and condemn generations of yet to be born Brazilians to poverty and underdevelopment.
You refuse to see that your arrogance in trying to impose 112 genders and force values that aren’t theirs on the majority of society repels the common citizen. And if to it all we add the stubborn promotion of a suicidal globalism that facilitates the agenda of postures hostile to freedom, equality and coexistence, it becomes impossible not to watch, in awe, the annihilation of the West by its own hand.
You ferverously attack Israel while keeping a silence of complicity before Iran’s all-fronts offensive and you shut your eyes before Hezbollah’s criminality. You disqualify Trump and Bolsonaro, ignoring that they are the product of democracy and that, regardless of how good or bad they are, they don’t pose a threat to democracy since they, themselves are contained in it and have not suggested any change to the rules of the game.
Is the wind blowing against them? Of course it is, as they have aligned their vessels against the most elemental logic, the most minimum decency and the most basic common sense.
